Hello everyone,

I got my new 15x70 some time ago, and realised that I do need some sort of mount for it. This is what came out, and works suprisingly well despite low cost and simplicity icon_smile.gif

Yes, I will.... as soon as I get the camera back (my girl took it)
I will also put up plans with measurements
It is very inexpencive and simple to make, and I realy dont see why comercial units cost in the 400 Euro range icon_confused.gif

Okay, here are some basic measures and a couple of closeups :

Lenght measures, all wood is 30x30 mm

Tripod head (spare Syntha part) with legs attached
You can also make your own from a pipe nipple

Mount folded for transport

Binocular end of the paralelogram (binos are mounted to the shiny L piece)
side view

Same thing, rear view

Azimutal bearing and tripod attachment part

Leg clamp

I hope this helps a bit...
I will gladly explain or take a picture if you need anything else icon_smile.gif

The tripod is basicaly a scaled down version of the Large binocular tripod .

Beri,I also have a 15x70 mm binocular and I intend to make a parallelogram mount ....I'm 180 mm tall and I have an aluminium tripod with 120 mm in lenght when fully extended.... I don't know how to calculate the dimensions....can you give me a helping hand?...thanks icon_smile.gif
PS...this is the tripod I intend to use for the binocular mount(of course,I'll use only the tripod, and not the EQ mount icon_wink.gif )

Hello mcuzic icon_smile.gif

My tripod is 134 cm tall when fully extended.
With the paralelogram dimensions shown above, you can be 200 cm tall and still reach zenith easily.
Your tripod is 14 cm shorter than mine, meaning you can use these dimensions if you are not taller than 186 cm.
If you need more height, make the paralelogram arms 70 and 90 cm instead of 60 - 80 cm

well I finished my parallelogram mount just now..sorry Beri i didn't follow your design in the end ...this is an all wood effort as I have no metal working facilities or ability-

hope to test tonight if the cloud stays away..see how stable it is and if it will deliver the promised one magnitude more than hand held binos
