I've just recently acquired 2 Hercules (model 4550) piers, on wheels with the
telescoping center cylinder (So you can raise and lower it). They were used to
hold television cameras (about 60lbs each) in a small production studio at a
training facility (they were used in the production of training videos). It's not
technically a telescope pier per se, but sure could be used as one if someone
is remotely technically inclined.
Anyway, these things have gotta be 30+ years old but are in near perfect
condition. About the only thing I suppose you could do is relube some
mechanics. It all works fine, but these things have been sitting in a storage
area (indoors) for 10+ years since they were last used.
The center pier is about 26" high or so, resting on a four legged base, with
wheels. The pier, standing on the base is about 36" high. When the center pier
is telescoped up, it gets to about 55 inches high or so. My guess is that the
pier and base together weigh somewhere between 30-40 lbs. I live in the
Chicagoland area, so if you're at all close you're welcome to come over and
take a look.
I've attached a picture below and can email more if you would like (close ups of
everything). I'm currently building my first scope and will use the sale of these
things to offset the cost. My wife and my wife's wallet thank you . I'm asking
$300.00 + shipping for each one.
thx in advance,
jeff
