I tried out The new Meade LPI the other night after viewing the eclipse.

Focus was a little soft and Saturn was still pretty low in the sky.

This is a composite of 25 images, LX200GPS 10" with 2.5x powermate.

Fantastic picture! I wish I could get that sort of image of Saturn (but I guess I'd need a bigger scope).

WOW, really nice.

it's the first image i see that was taken with the LPI outside of meade site.... (if you know what i mean...)

what is the exposure time of a single image?

and... about the meade LPI program, as i see it in the pictor view program from meade it's FULL OF BUGS! one time we lost the all night becuase of the Meade PView Bugs... and it's really amazing what stupid bugs we see......

what about the LPI software? any bugs so far?

Well lets see, The first problem was Meade sent out some bad disks. ( they have since rectofied the problem) They were pitted and scratched and would not install on some systems. I had a few scratches on mine but it installed fine on 2 of my 3 puters. Which leads me to the second problem, bug, It would not installl on Win 98se machines, My first 2 computers are running XP home and XP pro, the fix was to load the latest DirectX drivers from MS and then it went just fine.

The only other problems I've heard of is that folks with 256k of ram are experiencing freeze ups within the LPI imaging module. Meade says they are working on it and will post an update soon.

I've only had it out twice, and both times it worked well for me. Time will tell. It seems like a good imaging package with alot of options. I like what I've seen so far.

Iv`e just recieved my Meade LPI, but haven`t had a chace to use it yet. My disc was scratched also, but i had no problems loading the software. Great pic of Saturn. I can only hope mine come out as good. I tried my hand at ccd imaging, but the learning "curve" was more like a "hairpin turn " for me, so i sold my ccd, and i`m gonna try my hand with the LPI.

i will post the results in here icon_smile.gif

oh.. by the way, how is the seeing at your place?
i just want to compare for what we would get... the Givatayim Observatory is found 10K from the sea, and above the biggest city in israel, Tel-Aviv.... so skies are not that good.... icon_confused.gif

and again.. very nice image... very nice camera.... i want to have it already!!!!! icon_rolleyes.gif
